Kindergarten Course Objectives
Students in Kindergarten will develop skills and behaviors that will serve as a foundation for future learning. By the end of Kindergarten students will be able to identify the parts of a computer, operate the mouse and keys necessary to use the computer as a learning tool, and navigate to various learning websites. They will use computer applications to complete simple age-appropriate tasks at their own level and pace. They will understand the basics of Internet safety and the importance of staying on teacher selected sites. Finally, they will understand and demonstrate proper etiquette and behavior when using the computers.
- correctly identify the mouse, keyboard, monitor, and central processing unit.
- use the mouse to open Google Chrome.
- use the mouse to find the Do This Kindergarten link page and to select assigned or free choice tasks.
- complete the three Keyboarding Zoo modules that also practice letter sound and name recognition.
- easily open, close, and move between learning task tabs.
- verbally tell and physically show my classmates how to find fun learning activities on the free choice sites.
- use the computer to practice reading, math, and science skills.
- use the red x to close Google Chrome.
- shut down the computer.
